Okay, maybe Elijah Wood is sweet and lovely, and Viggo Mortensen brave and masculine. But when we're talking about who that we girls are dreaming about, then Orlando Bloom takes the prize...
Let us start with the most important: Orlando Bloom IS single! Definitely. "As the things looks like right now, I haven't any time to have a girlfriend. So the only relationship I can show off is my job," he laughs.
Well, things have gone fast. As you maybe know, did he get the offer as the role as Legolas in "The Lord of The Rings" only a day after he finished drama school. That didn't only mean 18 months of filming in New Zealand, but also the whole world's attention - and with that a lot of new roles - when the first movie came out. "My life is totally crazy right now. But I love it. It's great to be offered so many roles, and lucky enough, there are many possibilities for my family to visit me. But unfortunately I had to give my dog away. I live half in London and half in L.A. so it couldn't work out if I kept it. Too bad."
Sex Symbol? Who? Me?
Together with all the attention comes a lot of fans. And with them, a lot of elections as one of the worlds most sexy guys. "It's really a strange thing. Not at least because, I have never thought about that 'part of the world.' Of course I think it's fun, but I really don't know who's hot right now. Actually I don't know who I'm being compared with, when they say I'm sexy."
But can't you get really self centered in all that attention? "No, I don't think so. Again, I don't keep up to date. It's often my friends who find an article about me in a magazine, and then takes it with them and show me. So it doesn't affect me. I just live my normal life. But when that's said, I'm just a totally normal guy, that also succumbs for the press, that you have to look good. So I can go 'round and think about if I look good, but not more than everybody else..."
The accident-prone Orlando
Except for "The Lord of The Rings" you could see Orlando in "Black Hawk Down" where he plays the young guy, Todd Blackburn, that falls down from a helicopter and breaks his back. And the accidents are obviously something that haunt him. Sometime about five years ago, he fell down from a balcony on the third floor and broke his back. In real life. During the filming of "The Lord of The Rings" he fell off a horse, and he has been afraid of them ever since. To make quite sure, during the filming of his new movie "Ned Kelly," he got kicked off a horse. "Yes, I have been quite unlucky, but the worst thing was clearly when I broke my back," he says, and his voice starts to shake a little. It's of course something that isn't nice to think back to. "In four days I didn't know if the rest of my life would be in a wheelchair. And that makes you think about your life, seriously. Not like I don't throw myself out in a lot of stuff - I did both bungy jumping and parachute jumping in New Zealand. But it's still in my mind. I don't do anything stupid. But on the same time has this lot of work changed me a little. When I finally am off, I actually often think that it's more nice to have a long, quiet walk on the beach than do something neckbreaking dangerous. It gives me a special peace, I discovered. But I'm not a boring guy. If there's a party going on, then I'm there. It isn't that bad," he laughs.
And then you have to say it's good for him, that he can look forward to a lot of parties in the hectic Hollywood, now that he has become a part of it...
Backstage info
On the net there is a rumor saying that Orlando was in a semi pornographic film, where he had sex with another guy. But to all that have looked forward to seeing Orlando naked, we have to disappoint you: "That's a lie, and I have to admit, that kind of stuff pisses me off, when people make that kind of a rumor. But again... it's a small price to pay for living this life like that one that I'm living now."
