Orlando Bloom Boards 'Pirate' Ship
September 4, 2002
(Katrillion) -- What has Orlando Bloom been up to?
He first caught the eye of every gal and sci-fi geek in America with his role in "The Lord of the Rings," and he even captured our attention for a couple of minutes in a Gap commercial opposite Kate Beckinsale, but will this new "it boy" be starring in another big budget flick any time soon?
Well, get ready for an overload of Orlando because this British hottie has plenty of flicks in the works.
In December he'll be returning as Legolas Greenleaf in "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers." Then in 2003 he's got a few projects set to drop. First up, he'll be teaming up with Heath Ledger in "The Kelly Gang," a biopic about the legendary Australian outlaw, Ned Kelly. Most recently, Orlando has signed on to star in "Pirates of the Caribbean," opposite Johnny Depp.
In the Disney flick, which is based on the popular ride of the same name, Bloom will star as a young Brit who joins an admirable pirate to save his girlfriend from evil pirates. Geoffrey Rush will star as the deadly Captain Blackheart. The female lead has yet to be cast.
"The Kelly Gang" and "Pirates of the Caribbean" will both be opening in late 2003.
