Bloom's Emotional Goodbye To Legolasposted on August 22, 2003
From
Teen Hollywood: Lord Of The Rings hunk Orlando Bloom found saying goodbye to his Elvish character Legolas an emotional experience.
The sexy Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl star shot to fame in the screen adaptation of JRR Tolkien's mystical trilogy, and he found finishing the series a real wrench.
He says, "I've been back to New Zealand (to do some reshoots). It was really emotional to sort of say goodbye. We've done the wig for the last time. We've done the pointy ears. I'm done.
"I did three days and then they cut together a little clip for me of all the Legolas moments with music. And it was really kind and fun and sweet and sad.
"They let me keep my bow and arrow and the clapperboard from my last scene. And an ear or two."

Films add a string to archer's bowposted on August 22, 2003
From
Stuff.co.nz: When Jan Koszler first sees each of the Lord of the Rings films, he cannot keep his eyes on the actors or the scenery. "All I see is the arrows. I've got the whole film to enjoy, as the arrows feature pretty well through the entire film. Even if it's just somebody walking down the street with them on their back. I have to go a second time – usually with my wife – to actually appreciate the movie." He has a good reason to be obsessed with arrows. The Wellington archer has made "a couple of thousand" for Peter Jackson's trilogy, including all the arrows fired by stars Liv Tyler and
Orlando Bloom, who plays elf archer Legolas. This week he finished his final batch of arrows for extra scenes being filmed for the last Rings film, The Return of the King. He also helped to design the different arrows and bows in the films, and taught Tyler and
Bloom – who had never shot an arrow before – to be good archers ... He began teaching Bloom outdoors at Fort Dorset in Wellington before shooting started. "There were people hiding in the bushes (watching), it was incredible. "He was a really natural archer. By the time I had finished training him, I was lobbing discs into the air and he was shooting them. He did have a very natural ability, plus the enthusiasm ... He would go away and practise, practise, practise."

Elle Girl magazine, September/October 2003. Here is the
translated interview from
Hitkrant. Here is the translation from
Elle Girl:
Pleasure to Meet: six cute, talented and beautiful people from the world of showbizz.
Orlando Bloom (26)
Cute because: Orlando decided to be an actor when he found out that superman and the hustler where not real people. And that he could be one of them…
Claim to fame: He came into our lives with long hair and elvish ears. Everybody fell for him as Legolas Greenleaf in Lord of the Rings.
Fact: You can call him an accident waiting to happen. In 26 years Orlando broke his back, ribs, legs, arm, nose, wrist, finger and toe.
At this moment: You can see with Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean. This time in pirate outfit.
Also, Lenny reports that the August 28 issue of
Hitkrant will have another article.

Z Review: Latest word on "Troy"posted on August 12, 2003
From
The Z Review: A report from an extra on Troy has just been sent in "I just got back from cabo mexico today from the set of Troy" and the set is incredible! There is a LOT of bulgarian men around their! They are huge and muscle bound, hired to be on the front lines to make the army look realistic. I was fortunate to become good friends with one of them and it is true...they make very little $ a day. I was on the set yesterday (8/8/03) and they are now getting paid around $32 a day...while the local extras are making $50 a day! The food WAS bad...then it got good...now its average! anyway...the walls of troy are huge and from the top the view is beautiful...the costumes are elaborate and the armys look incredibly real! When standing there in formation with full costume (spear, shield, armor, ect) and you see everyone else..its as if you are ACTUALLY there, in THAT time and its the most awesome thing i have ever experianced! The days are LOOOONG (14 hour days) and the sun is scorchingly hot...but to be a part of this huge production is priceless and worth it ALL!"

Object of our online desireposted on August 5, 2003
From
ThisIsLondon.com: What do former Big Breakfast presenter Kelly Brook, Lord Of The Rings star Orlando Bloom and Manchester United have in common? They are all objects of our online desire; high scorers in a new survey that reveals the most popular search subjects of 8.5 million British internet users. Divided into 15 categories, the survey provides a snapshot of our current preoccupations, in subjects ranging from art and literature to clubbing. While Brook is the most sought-after female in the country, she is not number one on the personalities list. That honour goes to Bloom, thanks in large part to his role as Legolas in the Lord Of The Rings films, and his recent turn in Pirates Of The Caribbean.

Orlando in Blue Video (Hitkrant): The boys of the band Blue found another hunk for their next video. Orlando Bloom will be featured in de video for the song Guilty. The actor was asked by Duncan when they met at a party in London. "I was talking to the boys and we wanted a star in our video. When I asked Orlando, he was very enthusiastic. We think it's very cool to work with him". Duncan is extra happy with Guilty as the next single, because he wrote the song.
What do they think of being a sex symbol (Magazine Glossy): The attractive Orlando Bloom, who stars in August's Pirates of the Carribean says (with a big smile) that he only became an actor to impress women. No, seriously: "I'm a starting actor and have to prove myself. That's why I think it's strange that people adore me".

Orlando's drunken meeting with politicianposted on August 1, 2003
From
SFGate.com: Orlando Bloom only has hazy memories of the time he met a Caribbean Prime Minister -- because he was so drunk. Orlando flew with his "Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl" co-star Johnny Depp and the movie's producer Jerry Bruckheimer to meet St Vincent's Prime Minister Keith Mitchell, but the hard-drinking stars ended up disgracing themselves infront of the politician. The British star laughs, "Jerry was up at the front of the plane with his wife, and me and Johnny and Johnny's friend Sam were at the back of the plane and we sat there and drank red wine. "I don't know, maybe the altitude had something to do with it, but when we got to the island we just, like, crawled off the plane, staggering." He continues, "The Prime Minister was there to meet us and he goes, 'Hey man, very pleased to introduce you to St. Vincent.' Johnny's friend crawled past him, didn't even stop, Johnny gave him a huge hug and kept kissing him. "And there's me trailing after Johnny picking up all the stuff he kept dropping. It was crazy."
