"Return" of Rings Does Well at Midnight
posted on December 18, 2003

From ABC News: The midnight hour proved profitable for Frodo and the gang. "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" took in an estimated $8 million domestically from 2,100 midnight screenings Wednesday, according to distributor New Line Cinema. That was about double the haul for midnight screenings of last year's middle chapter, "The Two Towers." That film played in about half as many theaters for those midnight showings...

Interview on official LOTR site
posted on December 16, 2003

LordoftheRings.net has posted an interview with Orlando: No matter how high Orlando Bloom's star rises in the future, he will always remember Legolas. That's partly because Bloom has enjoyed universal acclaim for his turn as the elegant Elf archer. But mostly it's because The Lord of the Rings marks his first film performance. Here, the London-trained actor discusses the evolution of Legolas, his character's surprising relationship with Gimli and his own delight at being part of cinematic history -- on the first try... "Return of the King" premiere
posted on December 1, 2003

From ABC News: New Zealand's usually sleepy capital, Wellington, went wild Monday as one in four of its 400,000 people thronged the streets to fete the "Lord of the Rings" film trilogy stars coming to the premiere of the series' final installment. All three films were shot in New Zealand over the past five years. The crowd screamed as the stars paraded through the city in open convertibles flanked by black-shrouded horsemen, orcs and hobbits. The cast included Liv Tyler, Ian McKellen, Orlando Bloom and Elijah Wood. Fans leaned out of windows, crammed balconies and lined streets 15-deep. Bloom thrilled the crowd by opening his jacket to reveal an "I love New Zealand" T-shirt. His fellow star Viggo Mortensen greeted the crowd in Maori, the language of New Zealand's indigenous people. Fans roared as director Peter Jackson a New Zealander walked a red carpet toward the premiere venue...
