Fan report: "Pirates" premiereposted on June 30, 2003
Maureen writes: I saw Orlando at Disneyland this weekend for the premiere of "Pirates of the Caribbean." This guy is amazing, his entourage directed him to take the shortcut but the crowd shout their disappointment, so Mr. Bloom came back all smile, sign some autographs and take pictures. He really cares for his fans. Oh yeah, he looks HELLA GOOD, with his long curly hair and goatie.

TV Watch: "Pirates" specialsposted on June 30, 2003
Allison writes: E! News Live had a segment today on "Pirates of the Caribbean." Orlando was on it and he was also on Entertainment Tonight as well as Access Hollywood. He mentioned he was jet legged after flying in from the Troy shooting and said that Troy is going to be epic! One of the reporters told Orlando that he saw fans crying and waiting a long time to see him and he asked Orlando if he would go over there. Orlando went to the screaming fans, signed autographs and took pictures with them. Orlando asked the reporter if he knew anyone that knew how to deal with all the fans because he'd love to talk to them. Much more was said by Orli, so fans can catch Access Hollywood
(4:30 am) as well as Entertainment Tonight
(Monday, June 1st at 12:35, central Chicago time). Check your local TV listings!

"Pirates" world premiere (Saturday, June 28)posted on June 29, 2003
From the
Orange County Register: Disneyland went "Hollywood" Saturday night. And Hollywood went to Disneyland. More than 1,500 invited guests descended on the Magic Kingdom for the premiere of "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl," the latest big-budget summer blockbuster from the king of big-budget summer blockbusters, producer Jerry Bruckheimer ... The action-adventure, which stars Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Geoffrey Rush and Keira Knightly, opens July 9 ... Los Angeles radio personality (and former TV child star) Danny Bonaduce said he came for three reasons. "First, I'm a huge pirate-movie fan," he said. "Second, I've been on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at least 100 times. Third, I'm a big Johnny Depp fan. But I hate
Orlando Bloom. My wife seems a little too interested in Orlando Bloom."

Elle Girl has a Hot Top 100. Orlando is at the 70th position. Here is the
scan and the translation:
In the Hot Top 100 - Orlando takes position 70. There are five reasons why we like "Lord of the Rings" actor Orlando Bloom:
1. His elfish ears
2. He speaks French (very sexy when whispered in your ear)
3. He recently quit smoking. (too bad he started to bite his nails, but we will forget that!)
4. The only serious relationship he has is with his work
5. And for the last reason: take look at the picture!
"Pirates" premiereposted on June 27, 2003
Lauren writes: This is from ET online: Disneyland is shutting its doors to the public on Saturday so the "happiest place on earth" can host its first ever movie premiere. About 1,500 Hollywood heavyweights will walk the 900-foot red carpet that will stretch down Main Street to screen 'Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.' Workers have already erected a 40x90-foot movie screen on Tom Sawyer Island, and seats will be set up in New Orleans Square for the guests. The movie's stars JOHNNY DEPP,
ORLANDO BLOOM and producer JERRY BRUCKHEIMER are all expected for the star-studded event. 'Pirates' opens in theaters July 9.

Entertainment Weekly recently had. Please read what Darcee has to say: 1) If you've entered the contest, the tickets are being sent out to the winners this week. It looks like junk mail from

email me so we can meet before the show or something!

Magazine Watch: Vi Unge (Denmark)posted on June 18, 2003
Elisabeth writes: In the Danish magazine
Vi Unge (June 2003), there's a little note about Orlando on page 10. Here is the translaton:
Hunky Orlando: Later in the magazine you can read about what Elijah Wood and other famous people has been doing the last few months, but here's something about Orlando Bloom. And he has done a lot. Just after summer(!!!) there comes TWO movies with him to Denmark: Called "Ned Kelly" and "Pirates Of The Carribean". We've got a picture of him from the last mentioned - can you recognize him?
Beside that there's a picture of him with Johnny Depp (one we've seen 100000 times). So if you live in Denmark, spare your summer payments for movie tickets, and later for "The Two Towers" DVD! And if you like Heath Ledger, Orlando's co-star in "Ned Kelly", there's a big article about him in this number of Vi Unge too!
There is also a two-page article called Hollywood in Love... (you can't miss it, it's pink with a lot of hearts!!) And of course, there's a small notice about Orlando and Kate Bosworth. It tells that they've just got home from a small trip from the Carribean.
Latest Word: "Troy"posted on June 18, 2003

Letters to Orlando...posted on June 7, 2003
Laura at the
forum writes: "I wrote to him last week with some stuff for him to sign and I received them back today, signed and personalized. He even wrote a little funny note (which wouldn't make sense to anyone else but it just shows that he did read my letter) ... I won't believe anyone who says that he's arrogant as I have solid proof that he's very caring about his fans."
Right now, I think you're asking your computer screen - which address did she write to?! "I wrote to him in the London set of Troy but I heard that he's moved on to Malta starting this week. If you want to try to track him down, you can go to Star Archive. They are normally pretty accurate about movie set addresses and very updated. I also heard that he's more likely to respond if you can reach him on the set (which I can testify for, as I don't think he received the letter I sent to the ICM address). I hope this helps and best of luck to everyone who's going to try writing him!"

"Pirates" premiere?posted on June 5, 2003
TheOneRing.net has posted this
report from Celefinniel: I was booking a Disneyland weekend today and was "warned" by the Disney Club Travel desk that the "Pirates of the Caribbean" Premier will be at Disneyland Theme Park in California on the evening of June 28th, and the park will close early at 6:30. She also rumored that "those in the park may be able to see the stars arrive down Main Steet prior to the park closing." She thought Orlando was worth lining up and waiting on the curb for a photo! We have no confirmed information that Orlando will be attending... so don't book those vacations just yet!
Update: More from TheOneRing.net, posted by Coldplayer: I am (someone fairly important at Disneyland...not Mickey -Xo) and I can say with certainty that all major cast members of the POTC, including Orlando Bloom (Legolas) movie have confirmed attendance (in regards to this report from yesterday). Also, that it is HIGHLY unlikely that any guests will be able to view arrivals on the red carpet. This is the biggest event since the opening of Disneyland to be held inside the park itself, security will be extremely tight.

The August 2003 issue of

Johnny Depp, but it's the one we've seen a million times.
"Pirates" Director Lets Orlando Bloomposted on June 4, 2003
From
TeenHollywood.com: "Pirates of the Caribbean" filmmaker Gore Verbinski was reluctant to cast British star Orlando Bloom in his pirate movie because of his 'pop star appeal'. Verbinski, who teamed Bloom with Hollywood hunk Johnny Depp for the water adventure, is glad he took a risk on the "Lord of the Rings" star. He says "I think Orlando is very much taking on the Errol Flynn role. I was a little nervous because of the kind of pop star quality of Orlando. But he has 'it', that thing that on screen is such a wonderful presence."

Lauren writes: In an interview with an American newspaper when asked if he thought Gandalf should have had a love interest in "Lord of the Rings," Ian McKellan answered, "He does dear, his name is Orlando Bloom."
OBM.net has posted this info from Barbara: A similar (and probably more accurate) quote appeared in
The Observer in February 2002. "Although I was suggesting to Peter yesterday he should insert some love interest for Gandalf in a later one. He suggested Galadriel... I said, no, I was thinking more of someone like Legolas."
