According to The Daily Telegraph, it has been speculated the Orlando, Ewan McGregor, and Keeley Hawes have been approached for the casting of an ITV drama: "A £5 million ITV drama about Colditz Castle, scene of 300 Allied escape attempts in the Second World War, is causing dismay among survivors because the script shows Nazi camp commanders in an honourable light ... Granada's new production is to tell of a young prisoner who breaks out and returns to London to join M19, the secret service branch that helped those who escaped. The story is based on Henry Chancellor's book Colditz: The Definitive History."

According to Yahoo! Movies, "On April 6th, [the full "Pirates of the Caribbean" trailer] will be available to watch right here at Yahoo! Movies. I've heard from someone who's seen it and they say that everything you're expecting is in there... great shots of the stars, lots of action, and those spooky skeleton pirates. TheOneRing.net had their huge Oscar party on Sunday in Los Angeles, California. "Lord of the Rings" cast members that were present included John Rhys-Davies (Gimili), Craig Parker (Haldir), Bruce Hopkins (Gamling), Dominic Monaghan (Merry), Billy Boyd (Pippin), Sean Astin (Sam), and Andy Serkis (Gollum), as well as several members of the special effects team! Orlando was briefly mentioned in this article about the Oscar ceremony's security: "A 12-foot-high chain-link fence covered with a black mesh screen lined Hollywood Boulevard, keeping fans at least a hundred yards from the action and obscuring their view of the stars. 'I just wish they’d move this screen,' said Leah Keiser, 16, who came from Littleton, Colo. to see Elijah Wood and Orlando Bloom. 'But it’s still cool because whenever a celebrity pulls up, everyone screams like we’re at a ballgame.'"

According to Yahoo! Movies, "The top-rated UK television show MIDSOMER MURDERS is collected here, in a lavish box set. Based on the novels of Caroline Graham, and filmed in the English countryside, this series uncovers a dark undercurrent to a seemingly idyllic village. Chief Inspector Barnaby (John Nettles) is at hand to thwart any wrongdoers, solving the most complex of cases thanks to his keen knowledge of the criminal psyche. Guest appearances come from Prunella Scales (FAWLTY TOWERS) and Orlando Bloom (LORD OF THE RINGS), adding to the high quality cast, direction and storylines." So the big Oscar show will air today, 8:30 PM (Eastern) / 5:30 PM (Pacific). The Two Towers is up for a few awards including Best Picture. Will Orlando be there? Who knows? For all of you who seem to be in love with "the other elf" as well, there's been word that Craig Parker (Haldir) will be attending the event.

Release dates for Orlando's upcoming films

OBM.net was contacted by a worker from a large UK cinema chain, and here's what the intel was: "We recently recieved the release date schedule for this year, which is normally very accurate. Pirates of The Carribbean will be released on 15th August. Ned Kelly comes in with quite a late 26th Sept release date. The Calcium Kid has a release date of October 3rd. These are just the release dates for the U.K, and although all are relatively accurate all can be subject to late change beyond control."

"Dominic Monaghan and Orlando Bloom both chose to have their tattoos on the arm with which they did most of their weapon work... Bloom, who portrays Elf archer Legolas, has his tattoo on his right forearm, his bow arm. Orlando had a tattoo prior to his Fellowship tat: a tribal sun design below his navel." Erin Free of the Hollywood Reporter has reviewed "Ned Kelly" that focuses mostly on Heath Ledger, but notices that "Stealing all of his scenes is Orlando Bloom, whose rakish swagger and commanding screen presence suggest a formidable star in the making." Nicely said :)


Wolfgang Petersen preps for "Troy"

According to Reuters/Variety, Wolfgang Petersen is in "Europe now, prepping to shoot "Troy," the David Benioff-scripted epic for Warner Bros. that stars Brad Pitt as Achilles and Eric Bana as Hector. Shooting begins April 22 in Europe." Orlando will play the role of Paris in the film.


"Ned Kelly" premiere... again

According to a Herald Sun article, Orlando will not make it to the Melbourne premiere. "I'm so disappointed. I'm working on this pirates movie at the moment, then I'm going to do this film called 'Troy.' I have to go back to London to rehearse 'Troy' and there's just no physical way I can make it."

The OB Files reports that "Troy is scheduled for a 3 week shoot beginning in April at Shepperton Studios, part of Pinewood Shepperton. It is listed as in production, under the name Trojan War. Shepperton Studios is 20 miles west of London. They do not give tours."

He is filming with Geoffrey Rush in a movie called Pirates of the Caribbean, and can't make it in time to join pals Heath Ledger and Naomi Watts. But there's still a chance he will be in Sydney the next night for the NSW premiere.
