From Canada.com: "Orlando Bloom is at that difficult time in a young star's life -- when he has to prove that he's not just a pretty face, but a decent actor as well. As Legolas the Elf, Bloom is the best-looking part of Peter Jackson's Lord Of The Rings trilogy..." Read the entire article here.

Elisabeth writes: In Vi Unge (Denmark) number 5/May is a little notice about Orlando dating Kate Bosworth. Translation:

UGH! We have just been really happy for him beeing Single, so it was totally free to dream about kissing him, - And then he's taken! In this moment when I write this he's dating Kate Bosworth, also an actress. And to tell it's true he has also bought her a 14-carat gold bracelet, where is written "baby". Darn it!

Also, just underneath it is a notice about Matt Damon, where the writer says that he maybe should ask Orlando how to charm a girl!

Official message from Orlando!
posted on May 17, 2003

From Jas at OBM.net: First the good news, an official address for Orlando Bloom fan mail is coming soon! details are being worked out as we speak. Secondly Orlando's Mom has asked this message from Orlando to be circulated.... "Orlando would like to say thank you to all those fans who have written to him and is sorry for the delay in replying to so many of the letters. If you have sent a letter with a stamped addressed envelope you should be getting response soon, as he is slowly working his way through the backlog with the help of the OB Fan Club staff. Orlando would like to take this opportunity to let his fans know he does appreciate the kind words of support and feels the energy from so much encouragement and hopes you enjoy the films to come. There will be a new address for the Fan Club within the next few weeks, and directly this has been processed, it will be posted on the Fan Sites."

Magazine Watch: Premiere (June)
posted on May 16, 2003

Anonymous writes: In the June 2003 issue of Premiere magazine, Orlando mentions a film project he is very interested in doing, the life of photojournalist Dan Eldon. I thought you might encourage your readers to check out Dan's website and story. The more interest the public shows in this heartbreaking and wonderful story the better the chances will be that this film will get made. Dan was an amazing, young photojournalist and artist who lost his life with several other photographers in Somalia in 1993. Dan's sister Amy hosts a show on PBS called The Global Tribe.

Magazine Watch: YM (June)
posted on May 9, 2003

Rushina writes: There is a picture of Orlando on the cover of YM's June 2003 issue and a picture inside. Also, Jill writes: There's a page about Orlando and "Pirates of the Caribbean." There's a relatively large picture with him wearing (& no offense) some really ugly shoes. The article goes as following:

"Let's be honest - pirates and ships aren't really our thing. But put a pirate-fighting heartthrob like Orlando Bloom on that ship and we'll pretty much sail anywhere. This summer the hunky Brit trades in his bow, arrow, and pointy ears from 'Lord of the Rings' for a sword and a sexy goatee in 'Pirates of the Caribbean.'

'I can’t believe the roles I’ve had,' says Orlando, 26, who used to run around pretending to be a cowboy or Indian when he was a kid. 'I’ve been an elf, an army boy, a bush ranger, a boxer, and now this. It’s just mad.'

In 'Pirates,' Orlando plays Will Turner, a blacksmith's apprentice. He teams up with friendly pirate Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) to battle cursed buccaneers and save his love. Elizabeth ('Bend it Like Beckham's' Keira Knightley). But those doomed pirates are determined to break the hex that makes them undead (which they can’t die, but they can't enjoy life, either) and Elizabeth has the final piece of gold they need to undo it. It's a pretty simple good-guys-vs.-bad-guys story line, but what's not to love about an exciting movie that features Orlando sword-fighting in a flimsy short? Yeah, we couldn’t come up with anything, either."

Magazine Watch: Celebrity (May)

Lenny of Bloomania sent in scans from the May issue of Dutch magazine Celebrity. Here's the translation of the first scan: "'I can't believe that I was so lucky. I have played an Elf, a boxer, a bandit and now a pirate. I live in the dream of every boy. I can't believe it!' This is so sweet. Look at Orlando Bloom in the new Disney movie Pirates of the Carribean."

Orlando is a young studmuffin
posted on May 1, 2003

From MoreTV32.com: "I'm looking forward to maybe a "Fantastic Four" flick next. I can see Jim Carrey as Mr. Fantastic. His face is rubbery enough to convey part of the effect without any CGI. We'd have to have some young studmuffin, maybe Ethan Hawke or Orlando Bloom, to play the Human Torch." Now wouldn't that be interesting ;)
